During the season 2019-20 Giannis Sfairopoulos, who led Maccabi Tel Abiv to 19 wins in Euroleague (8 victories in the last 11 games) and named best head coach of competition according Euroleague GMs, signed a 2+1 contract extension with Israeli club while his team secured qualification for the Euroleague Playoffs (before the season suspended over coronavirus fears) for the first time in the last 5 seasons. Also, fans of Maccabi Tel Aviv showed many times their love to SferaSports coach and additionally Olympiacos honored him for his contribution to the club of Piraeus (2014-18).
